Holy Spirit, Are You There-a poem by grandma Anne

Holy Spirit are you there?

I remember that day that seems so far away,

When I called and asked if You are really there,

Then come and show me that You truly care?

You came and you filled my room with a glow,

Telling me that You

had so much for me to know.

As I bowed my head and waited to hear,

I felt Your presence so very near.

That day was the beginning of my life with Your power,

My desire was to yield to Your Spirit by the hour.

I didn’t always allow You to have control of my life,

I allowed circumstances to fill me with many a strife.

I look back over the years with sadness and regret,

But in Your great love and mercy, You told me, “Do not fret”.

You touched me again with your awesome power,

Reminding me again You had much to accomplish in me in this hour.

With baited breath I waited to see,

Just what it was, You wanted to do in me.

Over the years as I’ve been obedient to You,

I’ve watched as I have witnessed Your light shine through,

On all of those areas I held back from You.

I asked your forgiveness for hurting you so,

And for blocking those things that you wanted me to know.

With a brand new approach that You have released unto me,

I’m determined to be,

all that You Lord God want me to be.

As I live each day I live unto You,

Desiring my life to be holy and true.

I yield and surrender each moment each day,

Letting You Holy Spirit have Your complete way.

There is nothing in this life I want more than You,

To come and accomplish those things that You do.

My greatest desire is to love you more & more,

So that together hand in hand, we will upward soar.

So come Holy Spirit in Your strength and your might,

Give me what it takes to fight the good fight,

That one day I will hear Your gentle voice say,

Well done my good and faithful servant for walking My way.

That day You return

for your remnant to take,

My prayer is that all of Your children are awake,

With lamps that are filled and ready to go,

With their Saviour that they have had the privilege to know.

For the rest of the time that I have left to breathe,

Take the tapestry of my life and continue to weave,

All of the threads in alignment with Your will,

Focusing on Your word, where you said,

“ Peace be still”.
